About Us

Welcome to The First-Generation Lawyer, a legal awareness blog for everyday Indians. Our aim is simple: to explain Indian laws, your legal rights and landmark court judgments in clear, easy language, so that the law does not feel like a maze meant only for people with legal connections.

Why This Blog Exists

I am Deepak, a first-generation law aspirant from India. Nobody in my family comes from a legal background, so I know how confusing it feels to face an FIR, a court notice, a consumer problem or a property dispute without anyone to guide you. When I began studying law, I noticed that most legal information online is either too technical or too shallow to help an ordinary person.

This blog is my attempt to bridge that gap. I write what I learn, in the language I wish someone had used with me.

What You Will Find Here

  • Criminal law and procedure: FIR, bail, arrest rights and the new BNS, BNSS and BSA laws
  • Constitutional law: fundamental rights and landmark Supreme Court cases
  • Citizen guides: RTI, consumer complaints, cheque bounce, motor accident claims, free legal aid
  • Emerging legal issues: cyber law, defamation, AI and copyright

Our Editorial Standards

  • Every article is researched from primary sources such as bare Acts, India Code and Supreme Court or High Court judgments.
  • We mention section numbers and case names so that you can verify the information yourself.
  • Posts show a "last updated" date, and we revise them when the law changes.
  • If you spot a mistake, please tell us through the Contact page. We will check it and correct it.

Important: This Is Not Legal Advice

The content on this blog is for general education and awareness only. It is not a substitute for advice from a qualified advocate, and reading it does not create a lawyer-client relationship. Every legal problem has its own facts, so please consult a practising lawyer before taking any legal step. If you cannot afford one, you can seek free legal aid from your District Legal Services Authority. Please read our full Legal Disclaimer and Privacy Policy.
